SJA Admission Policy


New First Grade students must be 6 years old on or before August 1st of the current school year.  Ages will be verified by a birth certificate and immunization records must be up-to-date.


New Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students must be 4 and 5 years old respectively, on or before August 1st of the current school year.  Ages will be verified by a birth certificate and immunization records must be up-to-date.


In accordance with the Indiana State Department of Education and the Archdiocese

of Indianapolis, the enrollment in classrooms will be as follows:

Admission Policy of St. Joan of Arc Catholic School

The St. Joan of Arc Catholic School Principal and/or the St. Joan of Arc Pastor reserve the right to admit, re-register or continue a student’s enrollment.  Parents are expected to demonstrate a spirit of cooperation with the faculty, parish, and administration.  It is the mutual responsibility of parents and school personnel to ensure that the policies and regulations in this handbook are consistently applied and enforced.

New Incoming School Families must supply the following documents before being admitted: 

• complete registration packet

• registration fee

• birth certificate for each child

• complete immunization records for each child with up to date • school records

• current and previous reports cards,

• standardized test scores (ISTEP+)

• attendance/tardy records

• proof of completed Catholic Sacraments (if applicable) 

Phone calls are made to a new student’s previous school regarding discipline, report cards, etc.


New Incoming School Families/Students will be considered “conditional” status during the 1st semester and will be held to a strict discipline code.  (See Discipline) No child will be admitted to St. Joan of Arc Catholic School if they have been expelled and/or asked to leave another school.  New incoming students who have been suspended by another school will be admitted on a case by case basis at the sole discretion of the principal and pastor.


Returning School Families must supply the following documents before being admitted: 

• complete registration packet

• registration fee

• birth certificate for each child (if we do not have on file)

• complete immunization records for each child with up to date school records

  1. proof of completed Catholic Sacraments (if applicable) 



In the event a classroom enrollment is closed and space becomes available, registered parishioners will be given first consideration.


Non-parishioners wishing to enroll student(s) will be placed on a waiting list.  If and when openings are available, non-parishioners who meet these conditions listed (page 8) will be accepted according to the priority list established by the school administrator providing that the child is doing at least average work at his/her grade level based upon the report card and test data supplied by his/her former school at the time of application, and that the parents will meet their financial obligation as established by the St. Joan of Arc Finance Committee and the St. Joan of Arc Catholic School Commission.  (In the event the parents shall, for any reason, fail to meet the scheduled financial obligation, the student(s) may be dismissed.) Admission of a student having academic, social or emotional problems will be based on the school’s ability to meet the needs of that particular child.
