What time does school start, and when does the school day end?
School begins with morning prayer in Doyle Hall at 8 a.m. and ends with prayer at 3:15.
How do I motivate my child to do better in school?
Make sure your child knows you’re interested in what happens at school. Read Homework Watcher e-mails, and check to make sure homework is done, done correctly, and done on time. Be sure to look at the papers in your child’s Thursday folder on Thursday evening so you can ask any questions that might come up. Follow up on poor grades as soon as you see one so you can help your child improve.
Be sure you have a good space for doing homework – quiet, plenty of supplies, etc.
Make connections to what your child is learning whenever you can. You would be surprised how much reading and math you can cover at the grocery store. You’re not teaching the reading and math, but you’re demonstrating how much you use the skills yourself in everyday life!
Try to support your child and your child’s teacher when conflicts arise. You might try saying something like “I’d like to hear more about what happened from your teacher and go from there” rather than “Just wait until I get ahold of that teacher of yours!”
What is the drop off procedure?
If your child is in Mini-Monarchs or preschool, you are welcome to pull into the school lot and turn left (east) toward the fence. You may park your car and walk your child into the main school door. There is a painted pedestrian walkway. Wait for the crossing guard to assist you.
If you have a child in preschool, pull into the lot and follow the arrows past the main door and around to the yellow striped markings. Your preschool children will be helped out of the car and will use the middle doors. If you also have older children, they are to walk next to the building toward the main school doors to enter the gym.
All students in grades TK-8 are to use the main school door to enter the building and gather in the gym.
How do I pick up my child at dismissal?
If you have a mini monarch, you may park in the school lot before 3:00PM. If you are picking up a preschooler at 3:00PM, please drive into the lot, just like at drop off, and the teacher will meet you at the middle school doors.
If you have a preschooler and an older student, park your car in rows facing the school building (south), put your preschooler in the car and wait for the 3:15 PM dismissal. Be sure your family number is displayed in your windshield.
As cars pull into the lot, your family number will be noted. Students are notifed when their ride is in the lot, and sent outside. Once your child is in the car, please remove your family number. This tells us you are ready to leave the lot. When the sign is turned to slow, cars are moving into the lot or being let out. When the stop sign is up, please be sure your car engine is turned off.
What if I want to pick up my children and play on the playground?
Please park your car on the street, in the visitor lot, or in the garden lot. Enter the school building at the main doors and proceed down the hallway to the back of the gym(west end). When you enter the gym please give your family number or name to the teacher on duty. The teacher will dismiss your child and you may leave out the back door(west)of the school building.
