Our third annual Santa’s Book Shop is Thursday, Dec. 1st, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Doyle Hall. During the day, classes come in to shop for Christmas presents. After school and in the evening, it’s open to the public so feel free to bring friends and neighbors! Gift wrapping provided!
How can you help?
- Grab a grocery bag and clean off a bookshelf over Thanksgiving break. Hot sellers include books kids think moms and dads would like, cookbooks, current chapter books, books on tape/CD, toddler books (board books), and hardback picture books in excellent condition.
- Thin out your CD and DVD shelf, too! Everyone loves the idea of relaxing with relaxing music or a good movie over Christmas break. CDs and DVDs sell really well! (We are overloaded with videotapes, though, and don’t need any more!)
- Talk with your shoppers about their gift lists. Santa’s BookShop is a great time to plan who your kids would like to give presents to, what kinds of books they might like, and how much to spend. They can find gifts for brothers, sisters, grandparents, cousins and neighbors and spend much less with us than at the mall!
- Donate to Santa’s Secret Table! Do you have something you think SJA families would like to bid on? This year, you can put a secret bid on a Sleepover in the Library! The highest bid will be announced the next day. We won’t announce names because it’s a Christmas present! Contact your librarian!
- Help set up. The set-up crew will get to work Wednesday, Dec. 1st from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. You get a sneak preview, too! If you can’t make it, you might be able to help from home. We need signs and decoration ideas, too!
- Wrap and Shop for Santa. Kids love to have their gifts wrapped and ready to go. Sign up to wrap books or help kids and families shop on Thursday. Combine it with some Christmas shopping of your own!
- Bring family and friends for dinner and shopping! Don’t cook dinner Thursday evening! FSF will sell pizza and pop the night of Santa’s BookShop. Enjoy a relaxing evening of shopping and fun with family and friends!
