Seven Habits and the Beatitudes

Thanks to Fr. Guy Roberts for connecting the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People we are practicing at school to the Beatitudes we are learning as we grow in faith.

The Habits and the Beatitudes

Habit 1 Be Proactive

Beatitude   –  Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Habit 2 Begin with the end in mind

Beatitude  –  Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Habit 3      Put first things first

Beatitude   –  Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Habit 4 Think win-win

Beatitude  –  Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Habit 5 Seek first to understand and then to be understood

Beatitude  –  Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.

Habit 6 Synergize

Beatitude  –  Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

Habit 7 Sharpen the Saw

Beatitude  –  Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Habit 8 Find your voice and inspire others

This habit was added to the first 7 Habits a few years ago.

Beatitude  –  Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
