We originally subscribed to this communication media for the teachers to keep the parents updated on a daily basis as to homework assignments for each day. However, we take advantage of this system to publicize all school announcements as well. The office will send out all last minute notifications from school supporting groups on Thursday with the lunch menus, at about 3:00 p.m. We will also send out messages on Friday afternoons as needed for those events not known on Thursday.

SJOA CYO School Athletics/IHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Form 2010-2011
All parents that intend to and/or wish to have their children participate in any CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) athletic programs offered through St. Joan of Arc in 2010-2011 directly, if offered, and/or any of the associated shared sports programs offered through participating schools, such as St. Thomas Aquinas, Immaculate Heart of Mary or Christ the King Parrish Schools, there is an attached IHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Form that will need to be completed and singed by each parent or guardian as a condition of your child’s participation in any sport. This form is good for all sports programs being offered or any multiple sport student athletes throughout the 2010-2011 school years.
Friday May 21st, 2010 is the Annual SJOA Walk-a-thon Field Day which is a major fund raising event for SJOA and the school’s Athletics program is a major benefactor of that fundraiser. Dr. Andrew Mulvey will be donating his valuable time to be there to perform FREE Physical Examinations, as he has in the past, and taking place after the Walk-a-thon event has been completed. The only requirement for this free service is that the form must be completed in advance of the Physical Exam. The certificates will also be available the day of the event and there will also be assistance provided by some of the schools athletic commission members to assist parents or their student athletes in the process of completing those forms prior to their Physical Exam. Under no circumstances will any student athlete be allowed to have a physical exam performed unless the form has been completed and acknowledged and dated by the parent or guardian of the student athlete!.
Please do try to take advantage of Dr. Mulvey’s generosity in providing and performing such a valuable service to our schools athletes, because this will be the only opportunity made available through the school and again it is a FREE service to you and your children.

Change the Date!! There is a conflict with the original date of the Cultural Arts Fair next year. The date on the 2010-2011 Calendar is May 18th, which is the same night as the CYO City Track Meet. THEREFORE, THE 2011 CULTURAL ARTS FAIR WILL BE THURSDAY, MAY 19TH, 2011. Please change this on your 2010-11 St. Joan of Arc School Calendar.

We'll send you detailed instructions by e-mail, including directions on how to access next year's teachers' summer reading lists.
The School Library will be open Wednesday evenings this summer in June and July from 5 to 7 p.m. Come pick out books, renew library books from IMCPL, take AR quizzes, or visit with other families (and the librarian) and talk about books!
Speaking of Books
We want to make sure all books are returned before summer begins. Please look under beds, car seats, and the back of closets. We have to bill families for all unreturned library materials. Those bills will go home Monday and must be paid by the end of school!
Financial Assistance applications are now available for those school families who are registered for 2010/2011. If you need financial assistance, please call the school office for the application. Financial applications must be postmarked by May 1st for returning students. Thank you!
From the lunch ladies…
Lunch order forms went home today. All forms and monies must be returned to the school office by Monday, May 17 at 9:00am. Students receiving free lunch must return an order form or they will be given deli lunch for the week.
PreSchool is celebrating their last days with a Lemonade/Popcorn Sale on May 17th/18th.
DISMISSAL:
The weather is beautiful and therefore we have more walkers, bike riders and strollers on the lot at dismissal. In order to provide a safe environment for your children at dismissal, please follow these guidelines:
Remember we do not allow dogs on the property, as many children have a fear of them.
If you are parking on the street, walk to the school door and give your name to the teacher on duty. We will call your child to come outside to meet you.
If you walk home toward College Avenue, your children will be dismissed with all walkers on 42nd St. you can meet them at those doors.
If you are going to stay and enjoy the playground, please wait until we release the first round of car riders before you approach the school door to have your children sent outside.
You are watching out for the safety of your child/children, but the staff is responsible for the safety of ALL the children. Hopefully, this will help us keep a better eye on everyone!
