Diversity Vision Statement
St. Joan of Arc School values diversity, which exposes each member of our community to the rich and wonderful variety of the human race. Our experiences are shaped by many factors, including age, ethnicity, family structure, gender, gender identity, nationality, physical ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic standing.
Exposing students, faculty, and staff to a wide range of ideas, experiences and cultures, examining and challenging preconceptions, and exploring different ways of thinking enhance the learning experience and reflect the school’s educational mission. This inclusive approach leads to a welcoming, supportive and healthy residential community that embraces differences and promotes genuine respect for each individual.
In today’s complex, changing world, we continue building and sustaining a diverse community at SJA’s, to achieve a clearer understanding of our roles in an interconnected global community, and to prepare us for lives of constructive service to the world.
SJA Student Council
The student council is open to students in grades 4-8 for the 2009-2010 school year. Each grade will elect 2 representatives. Students wishing to run for student council will need to complete the application and attend a meeting next week during lunch on the procedures for campaigning.
Once elections have been held, we will meet during lunch once a month and as needed. Other commitments will be outlined as the student council creates its mission and goals for the year
