What is social distancing and why is it so important?
Social distancing involves staying home and creating space between you and others. Staying at least 6 feet away from other people will help slow the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and protect those most at risk of serious illness. In other words, social distancing protects you, your family and those in your community.
How can you help your family cope with the stress of the COVID-19 outbreak?
The outbreak of COVID-19 may be stressful for you, the children you are caring for and your family. Fear and anxiety about a disease can cause strong emotions in adults and children. It is natural for you and your family to feel overwhelmed, sad, anxious and afraid, or to experience other symptoms of distress, such as trouble sleeping. It’s important to support and protect children’s emotional well-being.

Dear SJOA Preschool and ELC Parents and Guardians,
We are continuing to closely monitor the SARS-Cov-2 virus.
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:
For information about hand washing, see CDC’s Handwashing website
For information specific to health care, see CDC’s Hand Hygiene in Healthcare Settings
Also, follow this link to the CDC FAQ at:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html
As a precaution and as an opportunity to practice mindful sanitation practices surrounding the spreading of germs, we at St Joan or Arc:
* are eliminating the use of reusable towels
* are wiping down desktops, door handles and other surfaces
The center for Disease Control and Prevention also recommends that employees and children remain at home until at least 24 hours after they are free of fever (100 degrees F or 37.8 degrees C) or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications.
We will continuously monitor updates from the Indiana Department of Education and the Indiana State Department of Health.
Blessings,
Robyn Baker
Director of Early Learning Programs
