URGENT NEED FOR WINTER APPAREL
With the continuation of the extreme cold weather, we need cold weather gear for our neighbors. We need men’s, women’s and children’s gently used coats, hats and gloves. All sizes are welcome, and we would greatly appreciate your donations. You can drop them off at the Distribution Center dock 1201 E. Maryland St. Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm or at one of our blue donation boxes around the city –https://www.svdpindy.org/give/blue-bin-locator/.
Thank you for helping us keep our neighbors warm this winter.
Volunteers Needed – Work from Home
We have two volunteer opportunities available that can be performed from the comfort of your own home. Both opportunities involve responding to requests from neighbors requesting assistance with food, clothing, household furnishings, and rent/utility assistance. Computer/internet access is required and training is provided.
Telephone Ministry:
English Helpline: Volunteers needed to take calls from English-speaking neighbors requesting assistance. Minimum commitment is a 2-hour shift, 2 days a month. Daily shifts are 8:30-10:30am, 10:30am-12:30pm, and 12:30-2:30pm. If interested, contact Heather Snyder, [email protected], 309-533-2678.
Spanish Helpline: Volunteers needed to take calls from Spanish-speaking neighbors requesting assistance. Commitment TBD. If interested, contact Maria Gonzalez, [email protected] , 317-294-0607.
On-line Volunteers:
Volunteers needed to field on-line requests made through our website from neighbors requesting assistance. Shifts are 7 days a week every 6 weeks. If interested, contact Paula Light, [email protected], 317-403-1385.
If you have limited time available, you may want to consider being a substitute on the telephone ministry to replace a regular volunteer on vacation, out sick, etc. These are great opportunities for anyone looking to volunteer from home and make a difference in the lives of others.
